Now in his mid forties Steve has been sharing his knowledge and skills by becoming a Boy Scout leader as well as taking on the added responsibility of becoming an instructor for canoeing and white water merit badges. For his own recreation he enjoys exploring new places by canoeing, hiking and camping with his family. In the spring you can find him on Maine's downriver canoe racing circuit with his teenage son Ben. Steve has also been a pioneer in the sport of whitewater tubing, perfecting the design of his river tubes and has conducted many trips on the Dead and Kennebec rivers as well as many smaller streams. He is a versatile individual who enjoys showing people the wonder of the outdoors and what it has to offer. The Rest Of The Crew Steve’s wife Tammy often
drives the shuttle van and accompanies Steve on some of the overnight
adventures. Tammy is a recreational paddler who enjoys calmer waters
and pleasant scenery. On overnight adventures she assists with the
cooking and camp life. For the past 25 years she has accompanied
Steve and Tammy’s teen aged son Ben is an accomplished paddler in his own right. He is a member of MaCKRO (Maine Canoe and Kayak Racing Organization) and can often be found racing with his dad in the early spring when the whitewater is fast and cold. Ben is an Eagle Boy Scout and is very comfortable with many outdoor skills! You will most likely find Ben working in either a kayak or on a tube here at Bullfrog Adventures. He is a strong kayaker and swimmer and will often tag along with his kayak on the tubing trips to help out as needed, many times giving people a tow if they fall too far behind the main group. Ben also occasionally drives the shuttle vehicle and helps on the overnight canoe trips if Tammy isn’t available or we end up with an odd number of people on the trip. Sarah is Steve and Tammy’s teen aged daughter. She also has a variety of jobs here at Bullfrog Adventures. Sarah is an avid kayaker and is a Junior Maine Woodsman. (This is rigorous training program offered by the Girl Scouts of America) On the Kennebec Lower River trips, A.K.A. “The easy float trips”, Sarah will often accompany her father and brother on a tube. She quite often assists the younger guests and helps them maneuver their tubes down river. Sarah is quite a capable canoeist and often paddles with Ben on our family adventures. Maggie-Mae is the family's dog a
very friendly little
black Cockapoo. Unfortunately Maggie prefers to swim and will often leap
out of the canoe or kayak showering her
fellow paddlers by shaking off upon her return to the craft. Now Maggie’s
job here at Bullfrog Adventures is to keep Tammy company in the van if
she has been
invited to go on the trip. (She loves to ride in the van!)
